Saying no early is better than regret later

A man was sleeping inside a tent in the middle of the desert. His camel was standing outside.

Camel asked his master, “Can I put my nose inside this tent? ”.

His master thought that it’s just a nose, so that’s not a problem, and he said, “Yes!”

Again after some time, Camel asked his master, “Can I put my face inside this tent?” ”.

Again, his master said, “Yes! ”.

After some time, the whole camel was inside the tent.

It happens in life many times. Initially we assume that it’s a small thing. It can be a habit, or a small inconvenience, or a minor discussion. What we don’t realise is a small thing is similar to the nose of a camel inside the tant.

After repeating that small thing again and again, it grows into a much bigger problem, just like a camel sitting inside a tent.

  • Eating a little extra in your weight loss journey does not seem too much, but after a month it will result in weight gain.
  • A minor health inconvenience that is ignored today may not seem significant, but if it is ignored for an extended period, it can become a major issue.
  • Minor discussion with a family member won’t be a big thing, but it gets transformed into a bondage that causes suffering.

The problem is that we don’t realise it initially; we realise it after the camel has entered the tent.

If something is hurting you or your growth, then it’s a sign that the camel has started putting his nose inside the tank.

The sooner you stop repeating something that hurts you or your growth, the better it will be for your life and your growth because it’s much easier to say no to a camel for putting his nose inside the tank but very difficult to get the camel out of the tank.
